Roy Lichtenstein was born in 1923 in Manhattan, son of a wealthy family from New York, his creations are directly inspired from the publicities and the popular imagery of his time, but, he was also inspired by the comics, which knew en important growth during Roy’s childhood and his young years as an adult. Roy describes his work as very superficial.
With this complete retrospective, the "Centre Pompidou" differs from the other museums which could have host the exhibition, and already paid tribute to the pop artist; a hundred pieces of art, and some which had never been seen in a museum offer a powerful and different eye on the artist
The exhibition allows to notice the evolution of the artist threw the years. For example, it’s only in the 60’s that he started to create huge sculpture as Barcelona head.
