"Le Prix du Premier Roman de Femme" of the first novel written by a woman was created in 2006, through the unique association between the Hotel Montalembert, which is located in the literary area of Paris 7th and the research unit in literature of the "CNRS Écritures de la modernité" (National Center of the Scientific Research).
Being involved in the Georges Sand literary competition in favor of the development of female young talents, Dominique Simon (Écritures de la Modernité) and the journalist/writer Anne Eveillard wanted to extend this action of supporting new female writers. Thanks to their meeting with Myriam Kournaf, the General Manager of the Hotel Montalembert, "Le Prix du Premier Roman de Femme" was born in this spirit of encouraging first novels.
« Le Prix du Premier Roman de Femme » rewards a first novel published in French. All French authors can participate if their novel has been published in the year before the date of the prize.
The prize-winner receives a trophy created by the famous Parisian jeweler Arthus Bertrand and a week-end at the Montalembert (including a dinner with champagne Laurent Perrier).
